Well, well well were back and its definitely stone fruit season! I was swanning around the market this morning and I ran into my mate Roberto, and he said there are lots of white and yellows hailing down at the moment. Lots of new growers are heading to the market which means prices are starting to come down and the fruit is starting to eat a treat. It’s still not exactly the peak of the season, but the new season fruit is coming about, and it is delicious!

This time of year, growers are picking the fruit early so you may have to leave it to ripen in your fruit bowl for a few days, I call it the fruit bowl fairy. Get the kids involved, get checking every day and watch the fruit ripen, anything that’s ripe can then go straight in the fridge.

Pink lady apples are shining, from our mate Jack over at Batlow farms. Super sweet and crisp, lunch box size on a ticket for only $4.50 a kilo.

Cya later Mr Singh, his tangelos are done. He’s had a cracking season, but citrus season is over so its cya later tangelo and hello Valencia oranges. Their super sweet and juicy, actually lots of the juice on the shelves are made from Valencia oranges, definitely jump on these. Their skin is a little unappealing with a slightly green ting but believe me this is just what I would call ‘orange sun cream’ and they are delicious inside. Cara cara oranges are still fantastic. If you’re looking for that navel zest that you won’t get from a Valencia, definitely give the cara a go. Ruby grapefruit is on a ticket this week as well so definitely jump on these.

We’re not so passionate about passionfruit at the moment, avoid them, they are dynamite at the moment were still waiting for passion season to kick off.

It’s very berry good news this week for berries, Victorian season has kicked off and it’s by far my favourite time of the year! Victorian berries are the best variety, they are stunning as only 2 for $6 at Delish this week!

Fruity, fruity fruit! Watermelon is on a ticket next week, they are cutting a treat and absolutely stunning! Yellow, honey and rockmelon are also all stunning, get on the melons this week!

Over in the veggie world, Farmer Steve’s rainbow beetroot bunches are flourishing and will be sticking around for another week, you guys just love them! They are a beautiful colour and taste absolutely beautiful as well, get your hands on these beauties while you can!

Great weather for a delicious Asian veg salad or stir-fry, all ingredients on a ticket this week. Farmer Steve’s bok choy, choy sum, mint, chilli, coriander and shallots are a steal this week absolutely not to be missed!

Lot of guys planted avocado as a summer crop about 10 years ago, so there is an abundance of avocado around all year, all summer! They are a treat at the moment, perfect for all your summer salad needs! I wish I could say the same in the land of tomatoes! Big gourmet tomato, truss and vine ripened are still pretty expensive as the NSW crop still hasn’t shone through. However, good news for the smaller varieties they are definitely the bank for your buck at the moment. Much smaller and therefore they grow much quicker than the bigger varieties, still locally grown here in NSW and eating sensationally! I would recommend the cherry tomato at the moment, on a ticket at only $2.99 for a punnet. Cucumbers are also shining through half the price they have been recently. Lebanese are my favourite, but they are all flourishing at the moment!

Over in the fish corner, leather jacket coming from the NSW south coast is y the best value fish you will find at the moment. Beautiful, triangle style boneless fillets perfect in cooking, I love them in fish tacos!

With the butcher this week, rum cap steak is definitely pick of the bunch. Beef prices are still constantly increasing but rump cap is by far the best value and 30% off this week. Similar to a porterhouse, but without the cost. Definitely jump on these!
